PUBG Lite for PC

Unless you have been living under a rock or on a mission to Mars, you know what PUBG is. Player Unknown Battle Grounds, or PUBG, took the battle royale scene by storm in early 2018. With popularity still going strong, PUBG promises to be more than just an internet fad. In fact, as of 2019, PUBG has over 200 million players worldwide. That is just as much as Fortnite, which is another Battle Royale Giant. Unless the fully loaded version. PUBG lite for PC is released.

What is PUBG?

Developed by Tencent games, PUBG made its way to smartphones following the success of its PC version. PUBG is a battle Royale format game, in which players dropped by airplane on a vast, open world map.

You collect weapons and equipment wherever you find them, and use them against at least 100 hundred other players. You can play alone or as a squad. To perform correctly, you need a decent internet connection.

That means don’t hesitate to get in touch with Spectrum Internet Assist if your latency is too high.

What about PUBG on Mobile?

After PUBG became insanely popular on PC, Tencent decided to up the ante. They released PUBG Mobile, which is a smartphone-optimized version of the same game following the same mechanics.

Since there are more smartphones in the world than gaming PCs, PUBG experienced another wave of popularity. Smartphone users everywhere download and play the game every day.

Aiming to cater to a broader audience, Tencent then released PUBG Mobile Lite. It was a slimmed-down version of the game that works smoothly on lower-end smartphones.

The best thing about PUBG is that it works across multiple platforms. It means smartphone and PC users can both play on the same server in the same game. And then came PUBG Lite for PC.

What is PUBG Lite for PC?

As the name indicates, this is a slimmed down version of the PC game. Most serious gamers prefer to use PCs for the best gaming experience.

It is even more real when it comes to competitive first person or third person shooter games. PCs offer better graphics and are intuitively better when it comes to pointing and clicking rapidly.

The problem is, not everyone owns a high-end, or even mid-range, gaming PC. The severe gaming machines you see at gaming arenas, and local tournaments can cost thousands of dollars each.

Since many people, especially in third world countries, can’t afford high-end gaming PCs, this poses a problem. There’s also the fact that most of the PUBG audience comes from Central and South East Asia.

Perhaps this is what prompted Tencent to come out with PUBG Lite for PC.

PUBG Lite for PC is a lightweight version of PUBG that runs even on PCs without powerful hardware. Launched in October 2018, it was initially called PUBG Project Thai, available only in Thailand.

Moreover, you could only play if someone invited you to Project Thai. However, since this was only the testing phase, the game is now open to international players. For now, the only available map is Erangel, but it works fairly decently.

What are the Minimum System Requirements for PUBG Lite for PC?

  • RAM: 4 GB
  • CPU: Core i3 clocked at 2.4 GHz

How to Download PUBG Lite for PC?

So now you know what PUBG is (both the mobile and PC version). You also understand what PUBG Lite is, and the minimum and recommended PC requirements. Now it is time for you to learn how you can download PUBG Lite for PC.

All you have to do is follow the steps explained below:

Step 1

Head to the official PUBG Lite website at https://lite.pubg.com/. I would recommend using Google Chrome to do so.

It is because the original site is in Thai, and Google’s translation tools come in really handy to translate to English.

Step 2

Once you are on the website, you need to do two things. First, you need to register and get a PUBG ID.

Next, you need to download the PUBG Lite launcher setup. Click the “Download” button on the Home Page.

It will redirect you to the downloads section, from where you can click the orange “Download” button to start downloading the PUBG Lite Setup.

Step 3

Once you have downloaded the game, you can begin installing it. However, don’t run it before you get your PUBG ID.

Click the “Apply for ID” button located on the top right. Use this to enter the required credentials, making sure you fill out all mandatory fields.

You can’t log in to your game before you get this ID. Once you have applied, you will get a confirmation email on the email address you provide.

Step 4

Head over to the email account you have specified when applying for a PUBG ID. Click the “Confirm to Register” button in the confirmation email you receive from Tencent or PUBG. Clicking on the link will verify your ID.

How to Install PUBG Lite?

Now you can log in using your PUBG ID and play on your PC. However, there are still a few steps remaining for you to install PUBG Lite for PC. Let’s take a look at them below.

Step 1: Using a VPN

Since PUBG Lite (beta) is currently only available in Thailand, you will need a Virtual Proxy Network or VPN. A VPN is necessary for you to be able to log in and play the game.

Most VPNs will work well with PUBG Lite, as long as they have a server in Thailand.

Step 2: Installing the Game

So now you have the PUBG setup launcher as well as a VPN on your computer. Now you need to start downloading the game data itself. It will take a while, so be patient.

You can install PUBG Lite for PC on your computer using these easy steps:

  • Open your VPN, select the Thailand server, and start the launcher.
  • The launcher will ask for your PUBG ID. While this may be in Thai text, don’t panic and enter your PUBG credentials.
  • After logging in, you will see a large orange button on the bottom left of the launcher. The text on it is Thai, but it reads “Install.” Click the button for PUBG to start downloading on your PC. Depending on your internet connection and VPN, the 1.9 GB file can take some time to download.
  • After completing the download, close the launcher.
